Episode 36: The Oregon Trail

In this week’s episode, we hit the old dusty Oregon Trail in a danger-filled trip to the west coast. The Oregon Trail is an edutainment strategy game developed and published by Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium (MECC). It was first released in 1985 for the Apple II, with later ports to DOS in 1990, Mac OS in 1991, and Microsoft Windows in 1993. The game was designed to teach school children about the pioneer life on the Oregon Trail by assuming the role of a wagon leader guiding a party of settlers from Independence, Missouri, to Oregon’s Willamette Valley via covered wagon in 1848.
